OUR PROGRAM

A Marvelous Transitional Living Home is a licensed provider under the Pa Department of Human Services, Office of Children Youth & Families Bureau. Our program provides trauma informed care to adolescent youth active with child welfare in Allegheny and surrounding counties. We service at-risk youth/young adults experiencing homelessness, mental/behavioral health concerns, substance abuse and abuse/neglect. 

The program was created with the use of the Trauma-Informed Organizational Change Manual from the Institute of Trauma and Trauma-Informed Care. The program models are structured around the Trauma-Informed Care and Logic models.

Residential services encompass independent living, transitional living, and respite services. Services are provided from a single-family home, equipped to accommodate up to 4 youth and designed as a continuum for youth to achieve self-sufficiency and independence. 

The program is fully staffed, 24 hours/7 days a week. Staff will serve as mentors, professional support and dedicated role models. Residents will be expected to participate in group counseling to address and/or focus on coping skills and problem solving, anger management, self-reflection, and commercial sexual exploitation of children. Access to group recreational and extra-curricular activities, on and off site. 

Residents will learn and focus on necessary independent living skills to assist with self-sufficiency and the transition into adulthood. Residents will learn to cook and prepare healthy meals from volunteer culinary chefs, how to shop cost efficiently for groceries and manage and budget money/finances. 

Residents will also learn the importance and value of in-home maintenance, education, and stable mental health. In addition to off-site activities and/or vacations, residents will be allotted personal time away from the facility and within the community. Residents will also be allotted the privilege/access to electronics (phones/program computers) use, assuring a sense of normalcy.
